Inserting images [uploading images]

Within this section we will discuss inserting images and uploading images from your computer.  It will be important for you to note that application does not reduce the size of your images.  Please keep in mind that anything that you upload onto the web site should not be too large for your visitors.  Try making sure that any image file that you upload will be no larger than 500 by 500 pixels. The system will only allow the following image formats: JPEG, GIF and PNG.  If your images do not have these extensions at the end of the name, you will need to open the image in an image editing program and saving it as one of the aforementioned formats.  Any image over 200 K should be avoided.

Uploading an image

  • Once inside the application, be sure that you are in edit mode.
  • Locate the "insert" section [green button].
  • On to the " IMAGES drop down", then click on the image icon.
  • The window will open allowing you to view all of the images in your library.  You'll also notice that there are two tabs at the top left hand corner of the window.  The first will be the "my files" tab, and the second will be the " load"tab.
  • Click on the upload tab and click the "browse" button
  • A new window will open a allowing you to browse your personal computer to find the image slash images that you would like to upload.
  • Double click on your selected image on your personal computer [you will notice the pasta for the image is then inserted in the text box signifying the chosen image]
  • Once the image has been uploaded to the library you will notice that it is already selected.
  • Click the "insert" button on the top right hand corner of the window.
  • Once you have inserted the image onto the page you can now move the image into position and scale accordingly by clicking on the handles that surround the image.

Inserting an image from your library

  • Once inside the application, be sure that you are in edit mode.
  • Locate the "insert" section [green button on the left].
  • On to the " IMAGES drop down", then click on the image icon.
  • The window will open allowing you to view all of the images in your library.  You'll also notice that there are two tabs at the top left hand corner of the window.  The first will be the "my files" tab, and the second will be the "upload" tab.
  • Click the check box within the image/images that you would like to insert onto your page
  • Click the "insert" button on the top right hand corner of the window.
  • Once you have inserted the image onto the page you can now move the image into position and scale accordingly by clicking on the handles that surround the image.

Scaling images on your page

It will be important to note that scaling an image in the application does not reduce the " file size" of the image.  As an example, if you upload a 1 MB image file directly from your camera, and if you have reduced the size of the image in the application by scaling it using the handles, the image still remains a 1 MB file!  We strongly suggest formatting the image in image editing program to reduce the file size of the image.

If however, you have uploaded a file that may not be too large, our suggestion would be to insert the image as normal onto the page and scale it to the size that you would like.

Once the image is active [you'll see this by the green boxes around the image] click the the "Resample Image" button on the floating palette on the right.  This will scale the image down to a smaller usable size, replacing the old file on this page with a new smaller file.  It is important to remember that the original file is not physically changed after the "Resample Image" button is used; a new, smaller version of the image is created for use on this page. Note also that once you've resampled an image on the page you will not be able to use the scale handles on the image to scale it larger as it will start to look jagged and pixelated.

We can suggest experimenting in the Images section.  Notice that there is also thumbnails, slide shows etc. that can be inserted onto the pages.  Please review the video tutorials for more details on how to use these functions.  But we encourage experimentation!
